Visitor’s Guide: This is the flagship publication for visiting applicants and prospective students to learn about the campus, the coursework, student life and opportunities after college. The cover art evokes an expansive experience.

from top left:
James Wallace Society: The logo identifies a class of contributors to the Annual Fund. The challenge was to make a dour-looking founder look friendly and modern while being instantly recognizable.
Wellness & Health at Macalester: The letterforms collide to form an energetic ‘step-up’ figure in the bold college colors of orange and blue, to convey a campus-wide athletic fitness program.
Macalester College: A rich and playful treatment of the traditional shield in celebratory ribbons. Used on notepads and stationery across campus.
Reunion: A fast-changing campus has few touch-stones that resonate with alumni of any era. The bell tower is one, and is used to call Mac students to assemble and in celebration.
Alumni College: This is one of three new programs devoted to keeping alumni involved with the campus. Each is a backdrop to a variation on the iconic Macalester gate. Institute for Global Citizenship: This new center helps students become ‘citizens of the world,’ inspired in part by alum Kofi Annan. The fingerprint expresses identity in many colors that—from a broader view—form the globe.

Macalester Now: This quarterly magazine allows prospective students to learn how students are taking advantage of their education.

Academic Brochure “What’s on your horizon?”: This brochure gauges prospective students’ academic interests. I wanted to emphasize the thrill of discovery over hurdles like deadlines and requirements.
Followup Brochure “Broaden your worldview”: This brochure allows Admissions to gather leads from their database. I wrote the copy as a snappy and summary of the best reasons to apply.

“The Mac” Yearbook: The yearbook had been dormant since the Vietnam era. The design emphasized the “traditionally different” culture. The cover evokes the past and future as notes of the same chord, speaking with an unmistakable voice.

College Catalog: The collage of richly colored photos evoke the wide variety of courses and the changing seasons, as the colors on the spine shift with each passing year.

Founders’ Day: The identity for the annual Founders’ Day gala blended a celebration of the college’s heritage and the idea that this history is still being written.

Acceptance Packet: The multicolored collage of photos captures a rush of new, varied elements of college life. I chose student faces to convey an invitation into a community. This letter can often formal but here I wanted to convey the excitement of this decision.
